Name: Synner's rescue
Type: (RP!!!) Space PVP/Ground PVP
Date: Sunday 22nd February 2009
Time: 19:00 GMT
Story Arc: imprisoned rebel operative
Arc Event Number: 2
Previous Event: Synners Capture (and interogation)
Next Event: N/A
Organizers: Krystina...
Primary Characters: Synner
Secondary Characters: Imperial Prison guard & escort, Rebels
Current Stage: Planning

<Description of event>
After Synners capture by imperial forces, a task force is being assembled in order to recover him from the Imperial's clutches.
Intelligence has indicated that he will be transfered to the Imperial Prison on Dathomir, a space offensive will be launched to attempt to disable the transport and escort in an attempt to board the ship and rescue Synner.

<Current Issues>
Obviously can't board the ship itself, however it will be a DISABLE mission so that the crew onboard have time to RP an escape/self destruct etc.

I NEED an imperial contact that will be responsible for coordinating the Imperial forces during the transfer.

The basic plan for the event will be as follow:
1900 - OOC meeting to discuss overview of event.

once the event is ready to go, the Imperial forces will be launching from Tattooine and will be travelling system to system using the highlighted hyperspace lanes to traverse the systems.
The Rebel forces will be co-ordinated to launch an ambush in one of the systems enroute.

Dependant on the outcome of this Ambush will determine the 2nd part of the event:
Imperial transport is disabled - the crew of the ship will "evacuate" to the ground of the nearest planet (whatever system they are caught in) this will lead into the ground portion of the event with the Imperials trying to regroup and the rebels attempting to find them.

Imperial transport is not disabled - this means that they will get through to Dathomir where the rebels will need to regroup and try and intercept the transport on the ground.

This is why i MUST speak to someone that will co-ordinate the Imperial players for this, so that we can iron out a basic plan of how to proceed. and also get an idea of what ships will be used.

The event is now set for NEXT sunday (22/02/09) with the space portion of the event requiring the "RP" space parts. (these will be made avaliable during the OOC meeting)

With regards to the mentioned time limits we have, it would be better for me and Seelec especially, if the event start at 1900, which is 2000 here. (and solve the OOC aspect earlier / via forum)
Since the Space and Ground thing might take a while, it would be sad to leave in mid-action. Rest is ok. Looking forward to it. Smile

My hope would be to get all the details sorted prior to the event, the OOC meeting was discussed after the last space event we did (just before the CTS thingys) the event was fun but went a little mad as such.
So afterwards a large group chatted about it and proposed an OOC meeting prior to RP events just to lay an overview of the event so everyone knows what to do and what is/isn't acceptable.
I would hope that this aspect wouldn't be more than about 10-15 mins tbh. Smile

I've chatted with Gerwin who's been brilliant in sorting out the weaponary for ships during RP space encounters.

BUT... who's organising the transport of Synner from the Imp side?? (not sure atm if Gerwin is taking on this aspect or not)

I imagine either Ibrahim or I would be doing the actual prisoner transport part of it, presuming my Game doesn't crash on the POB like it usualy does. Razz

I think the plan was to take a Y-8 Mining Ship thats been decorated as a Prison Transport.

cool, just need a little input and stuff so we can co-ordinate it Smile
might need to take off a mod i tried to put on last night lol, should have made the Y8 look like something else lol

If your happy for me to plan the route etc then I'll sort something out, if not let me know your plan so I can adapt the rebel one around it. (my first idea was for us to have "obtained" a copy of a "holomail" detailing the transfer, thought that it would give a believable RP segway)

from the chat I had the other night I think the imp forces for space were envisioned (possibly) as:

1 Guboat
1 POB
2 Bombers
4-6 fighters

so (by my estimation) that needs around 16 people (7 for gb, 3 for pob, 2 bombers and at least 4 fighters) and this doesn't include any provision for "staff" on the ship Synner will be on. (or if the GB will be a y8 prisioner transport or the Imp GB)

as Mik and Ibrahim are the "arresting officers" as such I think your best chatting with them hun.
(obviously dependant on if you guys are happy with this set up)

if we are happy with the basic set up for the imperial space forces I will try and work out a plan for the rebel forces.

one curiousity... is there a limit for the number of people on a POB of any description?

To my knowledge Gerwin has crafted the parts for all Imperial ships so we can use anyones decorated POB/GB for the event provided they use the parts crafted for RP.
We tested the GB last night at it works really well so I think a GB would be nice to use, but of course thats up to the organisers.

Speed of the GB is 260 ish so there will be plenty of time for RP on onboard the POB/GB, which will require those doing the RP to sometimes man the guns. (With a POB only two can man the guns which could be a little boring for the others)

We now only need to test the Rebel/Neutral RP kits against the Imperials and we are ready to go!

well i've made a start on the rebel/neutral parts, which are essentially the same as the imp parts, with the differences being the armor/sheilds and the blaster colours.

I'm terrible sometimes so it's probably just as well Gerwin and Dareni are kickass on that side lol, I have a mail in regards to the pob/gb stuff so just need to get around to sorting it out ^^

the only thing I want to flesh out a little as a final thing is what rebel force should be coming (as in a limit) if I can try and get an idea of who will be coming prior I can try and tailor some of the outfitting to the ships as such.

I'll try and pop something up on the train or from home lol, should be finishing off some work here before i escape ^^

I believe we were going to have a contingent of stormtroopers in one ship, with synner in the otherm so that the rebels wouldnt know which one was the decoy.

from the chat I had with Ibrahim last night, I think atm the set up is:

Space co-ordinator: Gerwin
Ground co-ordinator: Ibrahim

and atm I'm co-ordinating the Rebel side...

if we're basing it on the above set up I'm not sure if Mik'di was planning to use the Y8 in addition to the POB and GB or as part of that line up.

if anyone wants to help me co-ordinate the rebel side it'd be welcome of course, but I was thinking as a space set up...

1 POB or GB (as command ship/boarding ship)
2 squads of 4-5 fighters
1 squad of 3-5 bombers

now if we use a POB it will need at least 3 people (pilot and 2 gunners) and possibly 1 for damage control/co-ordination of the fighters. if we use the GB it will need around 7 people (1 pilot again and there are 6 turrets ((on my gb anyway lol)) ) the upside of the GB is that it would also have "enough people" to have the intension of boarding (so like a group of 4 "special forces") the downside that we can't dock in space will obviously limit us a little BUT there is a justifiable IC work around I think.

What I will try and do today is write the "stolen" imperial mail about the transfer, and put together the "rebel briefing" of how we intend to pull off the rescue. I will post it here for discussion prior to saying "this is the plan" as such.

any problems let me know

I think you can count in 3 LEGO X-Wings. Smile

Btw. is it possible to get the RP ships today/tomorrow? Then we have some time maybe to test them.

And what kind of help do you need for coordinating?

I'll try and get at least the fighter part sorted tonight hun.
well atm I have a basic plan how I think we can pull it off just want to make sure people are happy really (been trying to find a nice piccy of the travel network from the starship terminals so I could put a "route" up lol)

my basic plan is...

Imps
launch from Tattooine (asuming they'd drive to Bestine if they are meeting in mos luna?) (might also be chance for a spy to "sneak" on board maybe?)
fly to a hyperspace point and hyper to Corellia, when there they fly from where they drop in to another hyperspace point (basically making it appear that they are using different hyperspace lanes) and hyper into Dathomir space where they can then fly to dath to land.

Rebels
not 100% on this side, but thinking we launch from Corellia (as RP wise Dathomir is very Imperial lol)
I will try and scout out the system a little for the hyperspace points, but I'm thinking that Corellia would be the system that we try and either "intercept them" in as they travel between hyperspace points OR when the rebels launch we will go and "blockaide" or "wait to ambush" the Imp convoy when it hits the system.

if people are happy with that basic idea (rebel input on blockaide/intercept/hide would be appreciated) then the "battle" will happen in Corelian space.

The rebels aim will be to disable the prison transport, to try and dock with it to board and rescue the prisoner (i know we can't do this, but if we manage to disable I want to leave it up to the imps how to address the situation as such) my views would be either...
a) imps self destruct the ship using the escape pods to leave
b) imps try to repair the engine so they can try and escape

I'm open for discussion if we want to do disable for all ships or if people are happy to try and destroy the fighters (as long as it's agreed upon)

if the rebels suceed in disabling/destroying the imp ship then we could kick off the "search and rescue" style thing on the ground, if they get through we'd have to chase them and hope to intercept them on the ground as they travel to the dathomir imp prison.

only thing I'm not sure on after writing this is declaring... if someone can confirm where we can declare then we might need to make a few minor alterations to the plan.

Sounds good to me. Just one thing to add:

Saiana wrote: b) imps try to repair the engine so they can try and escape
Allowing repairs will leave just destruction of the ship as "success" for the rebels. I think disabling is quiet fine, the Imperial guard might then use escape pods to go down to Corellia and search for help.

Maybe they can send a message when disabled like "crashing down to Corellia". Then the rebels know they won the space battle, disengage from combat and head for Corellia to prepare the battle on ground, while the Imperials can repair their engine and fly to the Space Station. (This way, the rebels are faster and have a little head start on ground)

Since their transport is destroyed, in that case I think the Imperial would try to reach an Imperial stronghold on Corellia to secure the prisoner. Any idea what is useful there? The Static Base? A player HQ base?

Sounds a good plan to start with,
For the end results I see three options (just my opinions please feel free to build on them or destroy them)

1: If the rebels destroy the Imperial fighters (do not disbale or target their components), Then disable the GB/POB. The Imperials must try and get it running again (they are only allowed to repair the engine/reactor once) and make a run for the space station in that sector. (this results with the Imperials meeting with additonal forces and Synner is still captured)

2: If the Imperials fail to make it to the space station, (this can happen if then the Rebels board the gunboat (in RP).
We could then head to the ground and have a ground battle which we will pretend is a gunboat landing party (anyone know a place we could have that fight? prefereably in a building).

3 : The Rebels destroy all fighters and the gunboat, this results in the escape pods being used and we can have a search and rescue RP on the planet surface.

Post  Saiana Tue Feb 17, 2009 7:52 am

main things I see is that we need to agree on a basic idea of what happens in space,

if we are going for blood so to speak with the fighters, or if we are purely disabling.
then we need a basic contingency as to what will happen depending on the basic outcomes

I mean there is also the option that the imps could destroy the rebels (and therefore synner should get used that that jumpsuit lol) or that we will esentially be trying to catch them up if they make it to the hyperspace point.

one thing I would say in the space aspect is the need for TACTICS (i.e. no sitting on the pob's ass and firing until it blows up) so both sides would be playing a little cat and mouse etc (upto the pilots to decide of course)

if possible i'd suggest a chat channel maybe? at least for each side, so both sides can co-ordinate to an extent (have a "leader" on both sides that can chat to the other "leader" via tells?)

and we need a basic plan (will be a case of improvising of course) to say what will happen on the ground,
i.e.

Corellia - imps try and fortify a position (think there are escape pod storyteller props?) to re-group and try and get off planet, rebels will go searching (choose a square area to try and sweep maybe?)

Dathomir - if the imps make it to dathomir then they'd be heading for the prison, with the rebels trying to ambush on route.

hopefully in the future we can do less discussion and more RP Smile but I guess while we're getting used to each other, the basics etc we need a bit of planning so people know what is happening.

How many confirmed participants do we have?

I mean, if it is so far you and 3 LEGO on Rebel side, we simply form a group. And for inter-faction com, we can use the RP or Twin Lakes Channel. Don't know how many rebels you have on N Rep side.

I think its fine to go for blood on Space battles as all pilots have escapepods in their ships so it will be asumed that they are used in all cases. Plus its lore that Ties blow up allot Smile

Also the components get destroyed easily which will lead to a shorter battle then if you go for the un-targeted option.

well hopefully should be

you 3 from LEGO.
me from N Rep (and should be at least a few others from N Rep also)
and should hopefully have a few from nHi also.

I'll have to do some "spamming" tonight and try and get a feel for who will be there.

unfortuantley it is a little bit of a "see who turns up on the night" affair, depending who turns up will depend on how we sort our forces I think (no point taking a GB if there is 1 gunner lol)

I think I've already put up an idea for the force size, so ideally we need enough people to cover that really.

Gerwin has been sorting the loadouts for the imp ships so he'd be the best one to speak to.

I'll have to try and get the rest of the parts crafted tonight or something Embarassed
